Although it is a purely modern tactical tool, its roots reach deep into Asian history. The shape and proportions are based on the Japanese naginata, a pole weapon traditionally used by samurai and warrior monks to keep opponents at a distance, and on the Thai Krabi-Krabong swords. While historical originals utilised wooden shafts and forged carbon steel, this product is manufactured using cutting-edge polymers. The long handle allows for a versatile grip, which radically alters the combat dynamics and permits fluid transitions between attack and defence.
Construction and Technical Specifications
The blade of the sword is precision-ground from 1065 high-carbon steel, renowned for its excellent edge retention and overall toughness. The surface of the blade is protected by a hard black coating that minimises unwanted reflections and provides basic rust resistance. The handle, which makes up a full half of the weapon's total length, is moulded from high-impact nylon fibres. Safe Usage and Warnings
This sword is supplied with a very sharp blade and is fully functional for practice purposes, such as cutting tests (tameshigiri) on suitable targets (e.g., tatami mats, water-filled plastic bottles, or soft wood). However, for safety reasons, this weapon is absolutely unsuitable for contact historical fencing, HEMA sparring, LARP battles, or any human-to-human combat. Using a sharp blade against another person or an unsuitable target can lead to fatal injuries or the destruction of the weapon. Use the weapon entirely at your own risk and always ensure that there are no people or animals in your vicinity whom you might endanger during your swing or strike.
Weapon Care and Maintenance
To ensure that the weapon serves you reliably for a long time, proper care is essential. Even though the blade has a protective coating, the edge itself is exposed and susceptible to airborne moisture and corrosion. After each use, especially if it has come into contact with damp materials, carefully clean the blade and apply a thin layer of high-quality gun or preservation oil. The nylon fibre handle requires no special maintenance; simply wiping it with a damp cloth when dirty is sufficient.
