Baroque is a historical period and artistic movement that was manifested in Europe about from about 1600 to 1750. The word "baroque" probably comes from the Portuguese. It is a French transliteration of the Portuguese phrase "pérola barroca", which means "irregular pearl". This phrase was used in 16th century.

Besides other things also Baroque shoes can be found in our wide range. They are made in high quality, with a love for history and the craft. Musketeer boots often were worn by men in the Baroque period. They were the high shoes with bevelled points. Women’s Baroque shoes were improved and supplemented by a heel. It was a novelty, the purpose of which was sophisticated protection of splendid dresses. Not only were the dresses decorated, but also the Baroque footwear, of course. Materials, such as silk, velvet, brocade or atlas, were used for making of the shoes. They were decorated with various ribbons, stones and pearls.

The Baroque shoes will fine-tune great your men's or women's Baroque costume! Take a look at our other historical footwear too, e.g. Art Nouveau shoes.
