Gladius Fulham, class B

This is a replic of the famous Fulham Sword Gladius Fulham (found in Fulham, UK) now part of the collection of the British Museum. It is an example of a subtype of the Mainz gladius, with a blade that is somewhat more "waisted" in the middle part of the blade. Like the Mainz gladius, the Fulham has a long point.

Later Gladii are referred to as the Mainz, Fulham, and Pompeii types. In the late Roman period, Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus refers to swords called semispathae (or semispathia) and spathae, for both of which he appears to consider gladius an appropriate term. All types of gladius appear to have also been suitable for cutting and chopping motions as well as for thrusting.

Dobrý meč,ďakujem.V skutočnosti vyzerá lepšie než na obrázku.Odolnosť čepele nemám vyskúšanú,ale nie je to žiadna ohybná dekorácia.

Damocles’ Sword - a Legend That Is Still True

    07/31/2020
    Weapons

A sword blade dangled above his throat, which Damocles paid no attention to at first. Although when he noticed it, he suddenly realised that he could no longer rejoice and enjoy the prosperity that surrounded him. The food in his mouth became bitter and the paintings on the walls curled up into strange shapes. Instead of happily enjoying the gifts of a monarch, he suddenly wanted to be as far away from the palace as possible. Therefore, the feeling of not being able to rejoice at a time when danger awaits us began to be called the Damocles’ sword. Although, we should call it Dionysus’s sword. Why is it so, and how did it all end?
