Detailed Sword Description

Although it follows the design of its longer sibling, this wakizashi boasts its own unique details, especially in the colouring of its fittings.

Blade and its Adornments

For maximum safety, the AISI 420 stainless steel blade is completely blunt and unsharpened, making it an ideal and safe display piece. Its surface is adorned with a decorative etched hamon and, near the guard, it features two golden crests inspired by Japanese family crests, or mon. These intricate ornaments give the sword a touch of exclusivity.

Hilt and Unique Fittings

The hilt (tsuka) is identical to the katana—a masterfully hand-painted sculpture of two intertwined dragons. What sets this wakizashi apart, however, is the colour scheme of the fittings. The large aluminum guard (tsuba) and the decorative elements on the scabbard are electrolytically patinated in a striking combination of blue and gold, which contrasts beautifully with the black scabbard.

Scabbard

The glossy, black-lacquered scabbard (saya) made of bamboo wood serves as an elegant backdrop that allows the richly decorated blue-and-gold Zamak alloy fittings to stand out fully.
