Decorative Japanese Dagger (Tantō) Dragon's Claw
Detailed Description of the Dagger
This dagger is a work of art where every element tells a story of power and myth.
Handle and Guard – Body and Claw of the Dragon
The most striking feature is undoubtedly the three-dimensional execution of the handle and guard. The handle itself has a black texture resembling snake or dragon skin and is topped with a detailed pommel in the shape of a dragon's head. However, the dominant feature is the guard (tsuba), which takes the form of a dragon's claw wrapping around the blade. This element is not only visually stunning but also completely unique.
Blade and Scabbard
The blade, in the shape of a traditional tantō, is made of 440 stainless steel and hardened to 47-51 HRC, ensuring its solidity. Its surface is adorned with fine etching and a false hamon line. The black lacquered scabbard (saya) is fitted with intricate metal accessories (koiguchi, kojiri) in the same finish as the handle, depicting the faces of demons or guardians. The central part of the scabbard is wrapped in a decorative textile with a black, gold, and white pattern, tied with a black and gold cord (sageo).
A Work of Art, Not a Weapon
This dagger is a strictly decorative item. It is not intended for practical use, training, or contact fencing. Its rightful place is:
- As the centerpiece of your collection of fantasy weapons or dragon-themed items.
- As an impressive and original decoration in an office, game room, or club room.
- As an unforgettable gift for any lover of dragons, fantasy, and unique design.
The Tantō – Dagger of the Samurai
Historically, the tantō was a short Japanese dagger carried by samurai as a secondary weapon. It was used for close-quarters combat as well as for ritual purposes, such as seppuku. Women from samurai families also often carried it for self-defense. This particular piece is not a historical replica but a fantasy interpretation that borrows only the basic blade shape from history and combines it with mythology.
Bonus: Free Wooden Box
To ensure the dagger reaches you safely, it is packaged in a simple wooden box. This box primarily serves as protection during transit and is provided with the product completely free of charge. You can also use it for storing the dagger.
Care and Maintenance
Although the dagger is decorative, handle it with care. To maintain its appearance, simply wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. The stainless steel blade is durable, but for maximum protection, you can occasionally apply a thin layer of conservation oil. Keep it out of the reach of children.
