Are you looking for a katana that is both elegant and carries a piece of honest craftsmanship? This Bushido Kiku No Gyokuza Katana is just that sword. It was handcrafted in Longquan, China, the cradle of sword-making with a 2000-year tradition. Its folded steel blade has a clearly visible grain and is hand-honed to a sharp edge. The main theme of the sword is the blossom (*Kiku* means chrysanthemum), which appears on the beautiful openwork guard (*tsuba*) and other fittings. The genuine rayskin (*same-gawa*) handle is wrapped with a black cotton cord for a firm and secure grip. The deep burgundy scabbard with black spatters and a two-tone *sageo* cord is also unique. It's a fantastic collector's piece for any enthusiast of Japanese culture. Further product information ...

Bushido Kiku No Gyokuza Katana, Folded Steel, Blossom Theme

This sword is the work of skilled artisans. The folded (Damascus) steel blade is hardened to **40-45 HRC** along most of its length, while near the guard (in the *habaki* area) it has a softer temper (approx. 35 HRC) for better shock absorption. The temper line (*hamon*) is applied to the blade using a simulated (etched) method, which gives it an aesthetic appearance, but it is not a traditional clay-tempered blade.

The guard (*tsuba*) has an elegant openwork blossom design. The fittings (*fuchi* and *kashira*) are made of brass with an aged finish and decorated with fine floral patterns. Golden ornaments (*menuki*) peek out from under the black handle wrap. The wooden scabbard (*saya*) has an attractive deep burgundy finish with glossy black "paint splatters" and is complemented by a handsome black and burgundy *sageo* cord. The sword is delivered in a cotton storage bag for safe keeping.

Care Instructions

A carbon steel blade requires regular maintenance to prevent rust. After each use, especially if you touch the blade, clean and dry it thoroughly. We recommend wiping it regularly with a cloth dampened with oil (e.g., weapon maintenance oil). Do not leave the sword in a damp environment for long periods. Store it in a dry place.

Important: Never touch the blade with your bare hands! Sweat and oils from your skin can cause immediate corrosion.

⚠️ Important Notice

This katana has a sharp blade. It is not intended for contact sparring. This is a **Class C product according to our weapon classification, sold without warranty!** It is suitable for *kata* practice or *tameshigiri* (cutting tests) on light materials (e.g., tatami mats). Use it with extreme caution and at your own risk. Keep the sword out of the reach of children.

Recommended Accessories
