This is not a display sword; it's a fully functional tool for adverse conditions. Its design is subordinated to a single goal: performance and reliability in any environment. It's the choice for the modern warrior who demands durability without compromise.
Blade and Coating
The blade is forged from 5160 carbon spring steel, which is renowned for its exceptional toughness. Unlike traditional, harder steels (like 1095), this steel is far more resistant to chipping or breaking on impact or when cutting tough targets. Furthermore, the blade is protected by a plasma coating, which gives it a matte black tactical appearance and makes it almost impervious to rust and weathering.
Modern Mountings (Koshirae)
Forget traditional fittings. Everything here is built for function and durability:
- Handle (Tsuka): It is made from Kraton, a durable and grippy polymer. Its ribbed texture ensures a secure and firm grip in all weather conditions, whether bare-handed or with gloves.
- Guard and Fittings: The simple, functional guard and handle feature Paracord lanyard holes (Paracord included). This gives you countless options for attachment, securing the sword in your hand, or various carrying styles.
- Scabbard (Saya): The scabbard is made of fibreglass. It is waterproof, extremely lightweight (under 300 g), and impact-resistant.
Handling
The sword is primarily designed for fast, single-handed use. However, thanks to its 26.7 cm handle, it also allows for a strong two-handed grip if needed and can generate surprisingly powerful cuts.

Safe Use Guidelines
This katana is a fully functional and sharp weapon. It is not a toy.
WARNING: Sharp Sword – This is not a toy!
- Always handle the sword with the utmost caution and respect. It is sharpened and can cause serious or fatal injury.
- Not intended for stage combat or blade-on-blade contact. Although 5160 steel is extremely tough, it is not indestructible, and impacts on other steel can damage the blade.
- The sword is intended for cutting suitable soft materials (e.g., tatami mats). Never cut at hard objects (wood, bone, metal).
- Keep the sword out of the reach of children and unauthorised persons. Use is strictly at your own risk.
Sword Care
Thanks to modern materials, caring for this sword is incomparably easier than for a traditional katana. The plasma coating protects most of the blade from rust. Nevertheless, we recommend cleaning and lightly oiling the blade after each use (e.g., with Hanwei Sword Oil) to prevent rust on the actual cutting edge (which is not coated). The Kraton handle and fibreglass scabbard can simply be wiped with a damp cloth if dirty.
