Fujisan Katana, Sharp Sword from Folded 1045 Damascus Steel

A Tribute to Mount Fuji

The name Fujisan (富士山) is not chosen by chance. Mount Fuji plays a key role in the ancient Japanese religion of Shinto, and its name is composed of the characters Fu (rich), Ji (warrior), and San (mountain). This profound meaning is reflected in the sword's design. The elegant tsuba (guard) is adorned with a Mount Fuji motif, lending the sword not only beauty but also a spiritual dimension. By holding this katana, you symbolically connect with the spirit and strength of the Japanese samurai.

Masterful Craftsmanship of Blade and Hilt

The heart of every katana is its blade. The blade of this sword is hand-forged from 1045 carbon steel. During the forging process, the steel was folded 12 times, creating around 8,000 layers. This process gives the blade not only its characteristic and beautiful grain pattern (hada) but also its resilience. The blade is sharpened and features a fuller (bo-hi) to reduce weight and improve balance.

The handle (tsuka) is made of wood and covered with genuine ray skin (samegawa), ensuring a firm and secure grip. It is traditionally wrapped with black cotton cord (ito). Beneath the wrap, two decorative ornaments (menuki) are placed. The tang of the blade (nakago) is especially long and is secured in the handle with two bamboo pegs (mekugi), guaranteeing maximum stability and safety. The blade collar (habaki) is made of brass.

Use and Safety

This katana is fully functional and sharp. It is suitable for practicing forms (kata) and for cutting tests (tameshigiri) on light materials such as tatami mats. However, it is not designed for contact fighting or for cutting hard objects.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This is a sharp weapon that can cause serious or fatal injury. Handle with extreme care. Keep the sword out of the reach of children and do not use it under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. This product is sold only to individuals over 18 years of age. By purchasing, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. All use is entirely at your own risk.

Caring for Your Sword

To ensure your katana serves you for a long time and retains its beauty, it requires proper care. After each use, especially after cutting, carefully clean the blade with a soft cloth to remove all dirt and fingerprints. Then, apply a thin layer of weapon maintenance oil (e.g., Choji oil) to the blade to prevent corrosion. Store the sword in a dry environment. Do not touch the blade with bare hands, as the acids in your skin can cause rust. Regularly check the condition of the fittings (mekugi) and the overall integrity of the sword.

The sword comes with a certificate of origin, wrapped in a cloth bag and housed in a high-quality wooden box, making it an ideal gift.
