Design and Craftsmanship of the Fantasy Sword

The blade (nagasa) is crafted from carbon steel and immediately catches the eye with its organic, wavy shape reminiscent of flickering flames or flowing water. The surface of the blade features a deep red finish with vein-like motifs, granting the weapon its ominous name. The handle (tsuka) is made of wood and covered with a red imitation rayskin, over which a traditional diamond-pattern wrap (tsuka-ito) made of black synthetic cord is tightly bound. The handle is topped with a decorated metal pommel (kashira) in a patinated golden brass colour. The simple, round guard (tsuba) with a pierced motif is similarly coloured and visually separates the handle from the blade. The sword comes with a wooden scabbard (saya) lacquered in black with a subtle, droplet-like texture. The scabbard is reinforced at both ends with gold-coloured metal fittings adorned with delicate ornamental engravings.

Safety Warnings for Decorative Weapons

This katana is designed exclusively as a decorative item and a visual cosplay accessory. The carbon steel blade is not heat-treated to withstand stress, and the weapon's overall construction (mounting) is absolutely not suitable for Asian martial arts. We strongly warn you against using this sword for cutting tests (tameshigiri), historical fencing, LARP battles, or any form of combat practice. Striking a hard object could cause the blade to deform or snap, potentially causing severe injury to yourself and bystanders. When attending conventions and festivals, always strictly adhere to the organizers' rules regarding the carrying of metal weapon replicas and keep the sword safely sheathed.

Care and Maintenance of Carbon Steel and Synthetics

Even though the blade is protected by a striking coloured coating, the carbon steel underneath is inherently susceptible to corrosion. Therefore, store the sword in a dry environment and protect it from excessive ambient moisture. We recommend gently wiping the blade occasionally with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Absolutely avoid using any abrasive cleaners, polishing pastes, or aggressive chemicals, which could scratch or permanently wash away the unique red finish. Simply keep the wooden scabbard and handle clean and away from direct sources of radiant heat (e.g., radiators) to prevent the wood beneath the lacquer from cracking.
