Decorative Wakizashi Blue Dragon
Detailed Description of the Sword
Every element of this wakizashi has been carefully chosen to create a visually striking and harmonious whole.
Design in Colors of the Sky and Sea
The handle (tsuka) and scabbard (saya) of this sword are presented in calming tones. The handle is traditionally wrapped with a cotton cord (Ito) in a blue and cream color. Underneath the wrap, a white base made of ABS plastic, which imitates the texture of real rayskin, is visible. The wooden scabbard, made of bamboo, is covered with a glossy dark blue lacquer and adorned with silver motifs and a blue-and-cream cord (sageo).
The Dragon, Guardian of the Sword
All metal fittings – the guard (tsuba), pommel (kashira), and collar (fuchi) – are made of Zamak alloy and have a patinated silver finish. The tsuba itself is shaped like a coiled Japanese dragon, symbolizing power, wisdom, and protection. This central motif is repeated in other details of the sword.
Blade of Toledan Steel
The wakizashi-shaped blade is made of high-quality AISI 440 stainless steel. It is factory-blunted and intended strictly for decoration. A point of interest is the indicated temper line (hamon), which is not etched but created by the contrast between the polished and matte surfaces of the steel.
The Samurai's Companion
Historically, the wakizashi was the short sword that a samurai never set aside. It was a symbol of his status and a personal weapon for close-quarters combat. This decorative piece is a tribute to that tradition and is ideal for:
- Display as an elegant standalone piece that brings a calm atmosphere to any interior.
- Adding a colorfully distinct and unconventional piece to a collection of Japanese weapons.
- An original gift for lovers of Japanese culture, design, and mythology.
Care and Safety
Please Note: This is a strictly decorative item. It is not intended for cutting, fencing, or any other practical use.
To maintain its perfect appearance, protect it from falls and impacts. Keep it out of the reach of children. To clean, simply wipe the sword with a soft, dry cloth.
