Fantasy Steel Cuirass with Tassets and Groin Plate, 1.2mm

Detailed Armour Description

This complete torso protection consists of a breastplate and a backplate, each articulated into two riveted sections for better mobility. The belly plate is also equipped with three detachable components:

  • Two large tassets (thigh guards) measuring 29 x 20.5 cm to protect the upper legs.
  • One central groin plate (codpiece) sized at 13 x 11.5 cm for groin protection.

The entire armour is crafted from 1.2 mm thick, polished steel, ensuring high durability. All edges of the plates are carefully flanged (rolled) to prevent injury and damage to clothing. The cuirass adapts to your body shape thanks to a system of adjustable genuine leather straps, which fasten with sturdy steel buckles at the shoulders and sides of the torso.

Practical Use and Historical Context

How Can You Use This Armour?

This cuirass is the ideal choice for:

  • LARP and Cosplay: Are you portraying a fantasy knight, a mercenary, or a man-at-arms? This is the cornerstone of your costume.
  • Theatre and Film: Its authentic appearance makes it an excellent prop.
  • Decoration: It can also be a stylish addition to your interior decor.

With a weight of approximately 6.7 kg (depending on size) and a thoughtful design, the armour won't restrict your movement, allowing you to fully enjoy every battle.

A Fun Fact from History

The cuirass, as torso protection made from a single piece of steel, began to appear more frequently on battlefields in the 14th century and reached its peak in the 15th and 16th centuries. Contrary to popular myths, plate armour was not as clumsy as often depicted in movies. Well-fitted armour allowed a knight not only to fight but also to run, jump, and even mount a horse without assistance. This fantasy model takes its inspiration from these effective historical armours.

How to Care for Your Armour

To maintain your cuirass's shine and protect it from rust, follow these simple steps. After each use, wipe the armour with a dry cloth to remove sweat and moisture. Then, apply a thin layer of preservation oil (like WD-40 or mineral oil) to the surface. Store it in a dry place.
