"Prestige" is a special series from Art Gladius that emphasizes first-class craftsmanship and a complete package.
Hand-Forged Blade with a Real Hamon
The heart of this sword is its high-carbon steel blade, which is hand-forged and differentially hardened. This complex process creates a real hamon—a visible line that separates the extremely hard edge from the softer, more resilient spine of the blade. The blade is also lightened with a longitudinal groove (Bo-Hi), which produces the characteristic "whoosh" (tachi-kaze) on a correct swing. The edge is, of course, very sharp.
Traditional Hilt, Fittings, and Scabbard
The hilt (tsuka) is wrapped in real ray skin (same-gawa) and meticulously wrapped with a black cotton cord (ito). Gilded ornaments (menuki) are visible beneath the wrap. The simple, elegant guard (tsuba) is cast from bronze, and the pommel (kashira) is made of patinated brass. A classic, black-lacquered wooden scabbard (saya) completes the ensemble.
Complete Deluxe Package
This katana does not come alone. You will receive it in a beautiful wooden box, ideal for storage or gifting. Also included is a black cloth bag (katana-bukuro) and, most importantly, a traditional maintenance kit, which contains everything needed to care for the carbon steel blade.
