Unique Construction: Mittens and Mobility
The most striking feature of this armour is the integrated padded mittens, which are a continuous part of the sleeves. These provide excellent padding for palms and fingers under steel gauntlets, or serve as basic hand protection when handling a spear or poleaxe. Need manual dexterity? No problem. The palms feature practical slits through which you can easily slip your hands out without having to take the garment off.
Details and Material
The gambeson features a high collar with side buttoning, a typical and practical 13th-century element (buttons won't press into your throat under a helmet). It is made of 100% cotton with a thinner layer of padding (approx. 4 mm / 0.16"). This makes it lightweight, breathable, and ideal for layering under heavier armour without making you look bulky. Vertical quilting and slits at the bottom hem ensure freedom of movement.

Gambeson Care
To make your gambeson last:
- Machine wash in cold water (max. 30°C / 85°F) on a gentle cycle.
- Do not tumble dry; let it air dry naturally.
- Clean stubborn stains by hand with a brush.
