This Ulfberth doublet is made of three layers of fabric: an outer layer of cotton fabric (canvas), a padding layer/padding made of polyester and an inner lining made of cotton. The different quilting fixes the padding and increases wearing comfort. The doublet is fastened with studs. Additional nesting straps with embroidered eyelets on the lap and sleeves allow leg warmers or plate parts to be attached. The special cut of the enlarged armhole takes some getting used to at first, but is typical of the late 14th century. The high collar also has a special cut and increases the wearing comfort of armor pieces on the neck enormously. Further product information ...

A doublet, also known as a gambeson, pourpoint or aketon, is almost indispensable for free and show combat. The padded doublet was worn under plate armour in the late Middle Ages and is characterized by its short and form-fitting cut. It increased the comfort of the knight's armor and was also able to absorb enemy blows, thus reducing the risk of injury.

To determine your dress size based on your body measurements, please measure horizontally at the largest point. For tops, please use your chest measurement as a guide. If you are between two sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size. Comfort allowances are included in the pattern.
