This helmet is made of steel sheet, and its construction resembles open-faced helmets like the celata or sallet, providing excellent visibility and allowing for easy breathing. You will appreciate this especially when you have to shout orders to your loyal knights. The dominant feature is the magnificent brass crown with fleurs-de-lis and decorative rivets, which contrasts beautifully with the polished steel surface. Although the historical Richard wore Great Helms or nasal helms, this model represents the romanticized, heroic idea of a medieval monarch as we know it from legends and stories.

Comfort and Usage

To ensure the crown sits firmly on your head and doesn't slip over your eyes in the middle of a speech, the helmet is equipped with an adjustable liner. A leather chin strap ensures a secure fit. Thanks to the open face, you have an undistorted view and can easily communicate with those around you. The helmet is ideal for LARP, costume parties, theatre, and film.

Important Warning: This helmet is designed as a decorative item or costume accessory. The material thickness (approx. 1.2 mm / 18 gauge) is not intended for full-contact combat (buhurt, Battle of the Nations) or fighting with heavy steel weapons. It serves to enhance the atmosphere and role, not as fully protective armour against heavy blows.

Helmet Care

To keep your royal armour shining, it requires care. Both steel and brass parts should be protected from moisture. Wipe the helmet dry after every use and treat the metal parts with preserving oil (e.g., WD-40 or gun oil). You can polish the brass crown from time to time with a brass cleaner to maintain its golden lustre. Be careful with aggressive cleaners that could damage the leather straps. I recommend wearing a padded arming cap underneath, which increases comfort and stabilizes the helmet on your head.
