
This English royal shield is made of 1.2mm thick sheet metal and is hand-painted on the front with three heraldic lions on the purple-red field. Such a coat of arms was used between 1198 and 1369 by many English medieval monarchs. Among them was the Richard the Lionheart, Edward I, and Edward III, after making a claim for the throne of France.
