How to Properly Maintain Carbon Steel
Carbon steel blades are prone to rust if not cared for correctly. Absolutely avoid touching the blade with bare hands, as human sweat is highly corrosive. After any handling or returning from a con, you must wipe the blade down with a dry, soft cloth and apply a thin layer of gun oil (or traditional Japanese choji clove oil). The plastic parts and scabbard can simply be wiped with a soft duster. We highly recommend purchasing a wooden katana stand (kakedai) to accompany this beautiful sword, allowing your new treasure to be safely and elegantly displayed in your room.
