The true two-handed historical weapons of the Norsemen were the so-called Dane axes, which possessed a single, very broad blade. For safety reasons, however, we must strongly warn you: this axe is under no circumstances intended for full-contact Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), buhurt, or for safe use in LARP battles against living opponents! A strike with the solid steel edge would cause severe or fatal injuries. Likewise, it is not a functional working tool designed for chopping firewood. The weapon is intended primarily as a luxurious decorative accessory for your costume and a tool for non-contact shadow training of martial forms.

Care and Maintenance of Natural Materials and Steel

The carbon steel used to forge the double-bitted head requires regular care to prevent unnecessary rusting. After every use, especially in a damp outdoor environment, you must carefully wipe both blades completely dry and preserve them with a thin layer of gun or natural oil. We highly recommend occasionally treating the wooden shaft with pure linseed oil, which will prevent the wood from drying out and cracking over the long term. Keep the cross-woven genuine leather wrapping and its secure binding near the heads supple and hydrated by using a high-quality leather balm containing beeswax.
