From a historical perspective, the proportions of this weapon are based on the traditional Japanese field sword known as the nodachi (or odachi). These extremely long swords were worn on the back by foot-soldier samurai and were primarily used to counter cavalry. However, all historical accuracy ends there, giving way to pure fantasy. The sword features an extended handle (tsuka) with a golden-tan wrap (ito) over a black background, finished with a brass-coloured pommel (kashira) and collar (fuchi). The traditional metal handguard (tsuba) is replaced here by a signature white fluffy collar. The black wooden scabbard (saya) is boldly decorated with a series of white crosses and is fitted with a red tying cord (sageo).

The blade is crafted from real carbon steel. I must strongly warn you against any practical use! This sword is under no circumstances intended for full-contact historical fencing, martial arts training, and especially not for cutting tests (tameshigiri). It is strictly a decorative display piece and a costume accessory. The construction of the handle and the blade tang is not designed to absorb heavy impacts. If the blade features a sharp edge, please be aware of the high risk of severe injury. Any handling of the weapon is strictly at your own risk.
How to Properly Care for Your Replica
Because the blade is forged from carbon steel (not modern stainless steel), it requires regular maintenance; otherwise, it will succumb to rust. After every draw from the scabbard or after touching it with bare hands, wipe the blade thoroughly with a dry cloth and apply a thin layer of suitable protective oil (ideally traditional clove oil - choji oil - or a high-quality gun oil). The wooden box in which the sword is delivered serves purely as a transport container to protect the goods. I do not recommend storing the sword in it long-term, as the wood may attract and trap moisture.
