Two-Handed Sword Flamberge
Are you looking for a weapon that commands respect on the battlefield (or in your living room) by its silhouette alone? This two-handed Flamberge sword is an imposing piece of steel that transports you back to the Renaissance wars, when elite mercenaries known as Landsknechts dominated European battlefields. With a total length of 144 cm and weighing nearly 4 kg, this is a weapon for strong hands, not a lightweight toy. Its rustic finish gives it a stamp of authenticity, as if it had just left a field forge. Further product information ...

Details That Make the Master
The dominant feature of the sword is undoubtedly its flame blade (wavy/snake shape). This wavy design was not merely aesthetic but had practical and psychological uses. The blade is made of carbon steel. A crucial element is the ricasso (the unsharpened part of the blade above the guard), which is wrapped in black cowhide. This allows you to use "half-swording" techniques—gripping the sword by the blade for more effective thrusting or leverage in close quarters. Above the ricasso are the parrying hooks (Parierhaken), which serve as a secondary guard.
The hardwood grip is long enough for a comfortable two-handed hold and is finished with a massive steel pommel that is screwed onto the sword tang. The blackened guard with its spiral terminals gives the sword a sinister yet elegant appearance.
Historical Context: The Weapon of "Double Mercenaries"
Do you know who carried such swords? They were the so-called Doppelsöldner—soldiers who received double pay for fighting in the front lines. Their task was to break the formations of enemy pikemen and chop off the heads of their pikes. The wavy blade (flamberge) caused unpleasant vibrations upon contact with enemy weapons, and wounds caused by this edge were said to heal poorly. Above all, however, this "burning" blade was meant to terrify the enemy.

Care and Maintenance
Since the blade is made of carbon steel, it is prone to rust. After every touch, wipe it with a dry cloth and oil it (e.g., with WD-40 or preservation oil). Treat the leather on the ricasso occasionally with leather balm to prevent cracking. You can revitalize the wooden handle with beeswax.
Important Safety Notice
Although the manufacturer declares this sword as "suitable for fencing," due to its weight and construction, they do not provide a warranty against blade breakage. Therefore, at Outfit4Events, we sell it primarily as a decorative replica without a breakage warranty. Anything you do with the sword (drills, cutting) is done entirely at your own risk. If you decide to use it for training, please exercise extreme caution, as 3.8 kg of moving steel possesses enormous kinetic energy.
