Highlander Duncan MacLeod Katana – Clearance Sale – Marto Toledo
The Dragon Guarding Your Collection
The most striking feature of this katana is undoubtedly its hilt (tsuka). It is made of durable plastic that faithfully imitates carved ivory. Detailed reliefs depict scenes with dragons and samurai, just as you remember them from the screen. The hilt is topped with a massive pommel in the shape of an open-mouthed dragon's head. The round guard (tsuba), with an antique bronze finish, is decorated with dragon and phoenix motifs, giving the sword an ancient and mystical appearance.
The blade is made of X30Cr13 stainless steel and is hardened to 48-52 Rockwell. You will find a visible temper line (hamon) on the edge. However, to be completely transparent, this is an artificial hamon created mechanically, not by the traditional clay tempering process. This does not change the fact that the sword looks absolutely magnificent on a wall. The scabbard (saya) comes in an elegant black finish (also made of plastic material) and forms a perfect contrast with the hilt.
A Piece of TV History
In the series, Duncan inherited this katana from his clansman and mentor Connor MacLeod (who received it from Ramirez). The dragon-head sword became the symbol of the immortal warrior walking through the centuries. While you cannot expect to defeat the Kurgan in actual combat with this replica, you can bring a piece of this legend into your home.
Usage and Safety
It is crucial to emphasise that this is strictly a decorative item.
- Intended Use: Exclusively as wall decoration, for display cases, or as a costume accessory for cosplay (non-contact).
- Restrictions: Never use this sword for fencing, do not strike objects, and do not test its flexibility. The stainless steel blade is brittle compared to carbon steel, and impact may cause it to snap, leading to injury.
- Maintenance: Thanks to the stainless steel, maintenance is minimal. Simply wipe the blade occasionally with a soft cloth to remove dust. It does not require oiling as frequently as high-carbon blades.
