If you're looking for a bow that stands out at the range or on a 3D course, the Oak Ridge Northaro is your perfect match. This 68-inch beauty features a stunning, high-contrast riser made of Dymond wood, blending light and dark tones in a sleek, zebra-like pattern. A refined version of the popular Thargo model, the Northaro offers a slimmer grip, giving you better control and a more comfortable feel for instinctive archery. The combination of maple wood and black fiberglass in the limbs ensures a smooth draw and excellent arrow speed. Designed for archers who appreciate the traditional longbow feel but demand modern performance, the Northaro is versatile enough for target practice, field archery, or 3D archery tournaments. Its 68-inch length provides a stable platform that minimises "hand shock" and is forgiving of minor form errors. The reinforced bow tips make this bow compatible with modern, high-performance strings like FastFlight, giving you that extra bit of power and consistency with every shot. Choosing the Right Arrows for your Northaro

For a traditional bow like the Northaro, arrow selection is vital. Forget about plastic vanes; they are for compound bows.

  • Fletching: You must use natural feathers. Because the arrow shoots off the shelf, a plastic vane would strike the bow and deflect. Natural feathers collapse upon contact for a smooth flight.
  • Shaft Material: Carbon is durable and great for 3D archery (choose a wood-print finish for style). Wood (Cedar or Spruce) is the choice for a purely historical experience.
  • Arrow Length: Always ensure the arrow is at least 1 inch longer than your actual draw length. We recommend starting with 31" or 32" arrows.
  • Arrow Weight (GPP): Aim for 8–10 grains per pound of draw weight. Arrows that are too light act like a dry fire and can damage the limbs.

Recommended Spine (Stiffness)

Draw Weight (lbs) Approx. Spine (Carbon) Approx. Spine (Wood lbs)
25 – 30 lbs 700 – 800 30 / 35
35 – 40 lbs 600 40 / 45
45 lbs 500 50 / 55

Maintenance & Care

Always use a bowstringer to prevent twisting the limbs. Unstring the bow after use and store it horizontally in a dry place. Regularly apply string wax to keep the fibres protected. Use Field or Bullet points (100–125 gr) for target practice.

What to Avoid

Never dry fire the bow! Firing without an arrow can shatter the limbs. Do not overdraw the bow beyond its 30" limit to avoid material fatigue.

Recommended Accessories

  • Arrows with natural feathers (Carbon or Wood).
  • A bowstringer for safe bracing.
  • An arm guard and a leather shooting glove.
