The "heater" shape evolved in the 13th century from earlier kite shields. As body armour improved, shields became smaller and more manageable. This particular design corresponds to the 14th century style. Its flat, curved surface is perfect for painting. Whether you want to represent a historical house or a fantasy faction, the white or black finishes serve as an excellent primer base for your artwork.
Construction and Features
This shield is forged from mild steel (approx. 1.2 mm / 18 gauge). It is robust enough for light combat, drilling, historical fencing (HEMA), and LARP. However, please note that it is not designed for full-contact buhurt or heavy blunt force trauma associated with Battle of the Nations events.
The back of the shield features a secure gripping system:
