Traditional Norman Nasal Helmet, 11th century

This traditional Norman nasal helmet has a typical Viking look. Such is seen at length on the Bayeaux Tapestry. Its simple, minimalist design allowed for excellent views and unobstructed breathing. The helmet has a conically pointed bowl and a reinforcing band around the base with a strong downwardly extending nasal to protect the face against sword blows.
