"White Blossom" Katana with Sakura Motif and Carbon Steel Blade

Design and Symbolism

The dominant feature of this piece is the wooden scabbard (saya) finished with glossy white lacquer. Its surface features a subtle black painting of cherry blossoms (Sakura) and a traditional circular motif. The white lacquer contrasts beautifully with the black handle wrap (tsuka-ito), beneath which an imitation of white ray skin is visible. The black guard (tsuba) and the gold blade collar (habaki) tastefully complete the overall look. This sword will look great in both modern and traditionally styled interiors.

Blade Properties and Materials

The 69 cm (approx. 27.2 inches) long blade is forged from carbon steel. This material is historically more faithful than stainless steel and allows for better sharpness, but it requires your care. A temper line (hamon) is visible on the blade, giving it the characteristic look of a Japanese sword. Keep in mind that carbon steel is not corrosion-resistant—without regular oiling, it could start to rust.

Care and Usage

The sword is intended primarily as a display piece or for practicing forms (kata/iaido) without contact. It is not constructed for cutting hard targets (tameshigiri). * Maintenance: Regularly preserve the blade with oil (e.g., clove oil). Never touch the blade with bare hands; aggressive sweat could leave traces of corrosion. * Note: The wooden box in which the sword is delivered serves only as protective packaging for transport. Any damage to the box during transport is not grounds for a claim regarding the product.

We highly recommend a black wooden stand for this sword, which will create a perfect visual contrast with the white scabbard.
