Decorative Katana Taira with Engraved Blade

Detailed Description of the Sword

Every element of this katana has been designed to capture attention and create a harmonious, yet striking, whole.

The Unique Etched Blade

The undisputed centerpiece of the sword is the 420 stainless steel blade. Its surface, over a length of nearly 50 cm, is covered with extensive and detailed etching depicting scenes from Japanese history or mythology. This rich ornamentation makes each piece an original. The blade is unsharpened from the factory and serves purely for decorative purposes.

The Handle (Tsuka) and Guard (Tsuba)

The handle is made of a material that faithfully imitates ivory. Its surface is decorated with a colorful print of oriental, predominantly floral motifs in shades of orange and red. It creates a beautiful contrast to the dark, circular guard (tsuba). The guard is made of steel and is decorated with intricate motifs resembling dragons or mythical beasts.

The Elegant Scabbard (Saya)

The scabbard is crafted from wood and its surface is covered with a glossy, dark blue lacquer. The simple and elegant design of the scabbard allows the ornate nature of the sword itself to stand out. A decorative blue and gold cord (sageo) is tied around the upper part, completing the overall look.

A Decoration with a Warrior's Soul

This katana is a strictly decorative item. It is not intended for fencing, training, or any practical use. It is ideal for:

  • Display in an interior space, where it will instantly become a focal point.
  • Adding a truly exceptional and artistic piece to your weapons collection.
  • An original and luxurious gift for lovers of Japanese culture and history.

The Legacy of the Taira Clan

The name "Taira" refers to one of the most powerful Japanese clans in history, which dominated the political scene during the Heian period. Their struggle for power with the Minamoto clan, known as the Genpei War (1180–1185), is one of the most famous conflicts in samurai history and has been immortalized in many stories and works of art. This katana is thus a modern tribute to this dramatic and formative era of Japanese history.

Care and Safe Display

Although the blade is not sharp, always handle the sword with respect. For display, use a suitable stand or wall mount to ensure stability. Place the sword out of the reach of children. For maintenance, it is sufficient to wipe the metal parts from time to time with a dry cloth, or a cloth lightly soaked in conservation oil, to maintain their shine.
