King Ozzy's Dragon Sword with ornamental cross guard
Appearance and construction
The most striking feature of this sword is undoubtedly its ornamental steel cross guard (approx. 19 cm long), which is artfully depicted as a pair of entwined dragons or mythical creatures. This cast brass piece gives the sword its unmistakable fantasy character. The blade is straight, double-edged, tapering to a point and has a profile of about 38x5 mm at the cross guard. It is made of the proven spring steel CSN 14260 and hardened in oil to about 47 HRC. The handle consists of a steel core (blade tang) that is lined with wood and then wrapped tightly with high-quality dark cowhide, which is complemented by a contrasting golden spiral wrapping. The decorative, thematically matching brass pommel completes the overall impression and balances the sword.
Historical classification
This sword is not a replica of a specific historical weapon and cannot be classified using the usual typologies (such as Oakeshott or Petersen). It is a fantasy design loosely inspired by European straight swords, but with an entirely imaginative design for the cross guard and pommel. The dragon motif is a typical element of the fantasy genre.
Variants and uses
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The sword can be ordered in both the sharp and blunt versions (in the blunt version, the thickness of the blade is 2-3 mm, the tip is rounded). However, it must be emphasised that this sword is NOT suitable for practical contact sword fighting, even in the blunt version, due to the complex and artistically cast construction of the cross guard. The cross guard is not designed to withstand heavy impacts and there is a risk of it being damaged or broken during contact use.
The sword is therefore intended primarily for:
- Decoration and collecting: as a distinctive and artistically interesting piece for a collection or interior.
- As a costume accessory (Cosplay, LARP).
- Ceremonial purposes: Can serve as a symbolic object.
- Theatre and film: For non-contact scenes where the emphasis is on the visual effect.
Safety and care
Although the sword is not intended for use in swordplay, it should be handled with care.
- Use of the sword is at your own risk.
- Keep the sword safe and out of reach of children.
- The carbon steel blade CSN 14260 is not stainless. It should be cleaned, dried and oiled regularly to prevent corrosion.
- Due to the decorative nature of the cross guard, you should avoid hitting this part of the sword.
Above all, however, King Ozzy's Dragon Sword is a beautiful piece of art that will delight any fantasy fan. Its high-quality blade guarantees an authentic feel, while the decorative details make it a piece that cannot be overlooked. But don't forget that it is primarily for decoration.
