Silver Templar Sword with Deep Etched Blade – Toledo Craftsmanship
Symbolism and Detailed Craftsmanship
The sword is designed as a tribute to the Order of the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon. The massive pommel features the iconic Templar Cross (Cross Pattée), while the centre of the guard and the blade bear the famous seal of the order – two knights sitting on a single horse. This symbol, accompanied by the Latin inscription "Sigillum Militum Xpisti" (Seal of the Soldiers of Christ), refers to the order's original poverty and brotherhood in arms. The hilt is richly decorated with relief figures of griffins and knights, silver-plated, and complemented by hand-applied blue enamelling that evokes royal dignity.
Usage and Display
This sword is intended exclusively for decorative purposes. With a weight of nearly 2.9 kg (6.4 lbs), it feels massive in the hand, but its construction is not adapted for fencing. It looks best when hung on a wall. For safe installation, we recommend using sturdy wooden plaques or special wall mounts for swords that can support its weight and allow the double-sided decoration of the guard to stand out.

Historical Context: The Knights Templar
The Templar Order was founded around 1119 by Hugues de Payens with the aim of protecting pilgrims travelling to Jerusalem. From an originally poor brotherhood, it became one of the most powerful military and financial organizations of the Middle Ages. Their downfall began on Friday, October 13, 1307, when the French King Philip IV had the Templars arrested en masse. This event continues to fuel legends about the Templar treasure and curses to this day. Templar swords were historically symbols of strength, faith, and devotion, and this model faithfully captures the spirit of that era.
Care and Maintenance
To keep your sword looking like new, please follow a few simple rules:
- Cleaning: Although the blade is made of stainless steel, we recommend dusting it regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Fingerprints: Acidic sweat from hands can tarnish the shine of the blade over time. Wipe the blade down after every touch.
- Hilt Care: Do not use aggressive chemical cleaners or abrasive pastes on the silver-plated parts, as they could damage the thin metal finish. A soft duster is sufficient.
Safety Warning
This product is a replica of a historical weapon intended for decoration only. The blade is made of stainless steel, which is hard and corrosion-resistant but brittle upon impact. The tang of the blade (the part passing through the handle) is not constructed to withstand the stress of striking. Never use this sword for fencing, swinging, or hitting objects – there is a risk of the blade breaking and causing serious injury to you or others. Due to the high weight, please exercise extra caution when handling to ensure the sword does not slip.
Recommended Accessories
A wooden wall plaque with brass mounts would be an excellent addition to this sword, highlighting its historical appearance.
