The design of this sword references the High Middle Ages and the 12th century, the foundational era of the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon. During this period, the single-handed arming sword (Oakeshott type Xa/XI) served as a knight's primary sidearm. Beyond its combat role paired with maille armor and a heater shield, the sword carried profound spiritual symbolism—its crossguard and blade forming the sacred shape of the Christian cross upon which Templar brothers swore their vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
