Historical Context and Design Advantages
During the Middle Ages, heater shields were most commonly used by the knighthood. Thanks to its specific shape, this shield was lighter than many older types of shields (such as the kite shield) and can be manipulated well and quickly. The large front surface of the shield offered plenty of room for heraldic motifs, making it easy to identify and distinguish warriors on the battlefield. This shield is therefore perfectly suited for reenacting the combat styles of the High and Late Middle Ages.
Construction and Handling
The shield is individually hand-forged from durable steel. Because of the handmade process, minor surface marks or variations in the finish may be present, which only enhance its authentic medieval character. The front side is entirely covered in black paint. If you are looking for a way to show off your personal symbols in combat, you can paint it with your personal coat of arms, emblem, or simply with solid colours for easier recognition on the battlefield. Designed with functionality in mind, it features a welded bracket on the back housing a solid wooden grip. This is complemented by an adjustable genuine leather strap, providing comfort and security on your forearm during use.

Steel Shield Maintenance and Safety
As the shield is made of steel plate, it requires proper care to ensure its longevity. Wipe it thoroughly with a dry cloth after each use to prevent rust. Occasionally apply a thin coat of mineral or machine oil to the steel surface to preserve the metal. We strongly advise avoiding prolonged exposure to moisture, and when not in use, store the shield in a dry place.
While this product is built to endure the demands of LARP battles and medieval roleplay, for safety reasons, please note that it is not protective armour suitable for full-contact, heavy-force combat (such as buhurt or Battle of the Nations). Full-force strikes with steel weapons could permanently damage it. To achieve maximum comfort when carrying the shield and to cushion impacts during combat, we highly recommend wearing a high-quality padded gambeson from our selection underneath it.
