El Cid: Hero of Two Worlds
Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar (c. 1043–1099), nicknamed El Cid (from the Arabic "Sidi" – Lord) or Campeador (Champion), is the Spanish national hero. He became famous as an invincible military leader during the Reconquista, when Christian kingdoms fought to reclaim the Iberian Peninsula from the Moors. His story, immortalized in the epic "The Poem of the Cid," tells of honour, loyalty, and incredible courage. Owning this shield means remembering a legend that united a divided land.
How to Care for the Shield
To ensure the shield retains its dazzling lustre, it requires gentle care. Remove dust with a soft feather duster or a dry microfibre cloth. Do not use water or aggressive cleaning agents on the polished steel and brass parts, as they could cause stains or oxidation. If fingerprints appear on the surface, gently polish them off with a dry soft cloth. Place the shield in a dry environment where it will not be exposed to direct humidity.

It has no hand grips, and its construction is not built to withstand blows from weapons. The approx. 1 mm thick metal sheet would be irreparably damaged by contact use.
