Construction and Premium Materials
The foundation of this armour is honest craftsmanship. It consists of dozens of steel scales that overlap to effectively distribute the force of any impact. Let's look at the details:
- Steel Scales: Each 6 x 4 cm scale is crafted from tough yet flexible mild steel with a thickness of approx. 1 mm (20 gauge). Please note this is not stainless steel and requires maintenance.
- Leather Foundation: The scales are riveted to a robust backing of genuine black leather, approx. 1.5 mm thick.
- Reliable Fastenings: You can easily adjust the armour to your body thanks to six adjustable straps (three on each side) made from thick 4 mm leather and fitted with sturdy iron buckles.
How to Choose the Right Size
To ensure a perfect fit, it is crucial to measure your chest circumference while wearing your gambeson or any other padded garment you plan to wear underneath. The cuirass is put on over the head and tightened using the side straps.
