To keep the cost low, and for ease of transport, the American Hunting Spear does not include a handle. It is designed to accept most standard 48 in. (approx. 122cm) ash shovel handles available at most hardware stores or online retailers.
SK-5 High Carbon Steel
Japanese high carbon SK-5 is traditionally used for making a variety of hand tools, including chisels and woodcutting saws. With good all-round toughness and excellent edge holding capabilities as well as excellent abrasion resistance, it has stood the test of time and seen use in many countries.
Important information: At international level, legal provisions pertaining to spear hunting are not uniform and widely differ depending on individual state legislation. In Germany, spear hunting is prohibited. Due to the many and varied laws that govern hunting across the world, please make sure to seek proper advice from the competent authority in your country in order to comply with all local and state regulations.
