Historical Origin and Construction
This single-handed arming sword derives its design elements from high-medieval knightly weapons of the 14th century. Based on the Oakeshott typology, the blade with its wide central fuller corresponds to Type Xa or XI. The downward-swept guard (Style 6) offered excellent hand protection while allowing the fencer to effectively catch and bind opposing strikes. The grip is built on a full tang with wooden scales wrapped in supple brown leather and reinforced with fine wire binding for a firm grip, even when wearing heavy gauntlets.
Historical originals of these arming swords accompanied knights through major 14th-century engagements, including the Hundred Years' War and the Hussite Wars. In combat, the arming sword served as the primary sidearm, frequently paired with a buckler or shield to deliver fast cuts and agile parries in close-quarters combat.

Inspect the sword thoroughly before every training session or performance. The blade is forged from high-carbon spring steel, which is not stainless. We recommend wiping away moisture and sweat after each use and applying a protective gun oil (such as Ballistol). Any burrs or notches along the striking edge should be filed smooth immediately using a diamond file or fine sandpaper to prevent injuries to sparring partners.
Safety Notice: The stage combat version features blunt edges (2–3 mm) and a rounded safety tip. However, all combat activities are undertaken strictly at your own risk. Avoid direct edge-to-edge impacts and block incoming strikes with the flat of the blade whenever possible. Execute strikes with proper form without using excessive force. If the guard becomes loose over time, tighten the peen on the pommel or shim the gap. Keep out of reach of children.
