Viking Leather Ankle Boots with Wrap-Around Closure and Rubber Sole

Historical Design for Today's Battlefields

The Vikings and inhabitants of early medieval Scandinavia needed footwear that would protect them from the harsh climate, dry quickly, and stay reliably on the foot even in combat. These boots utilise a clever construction with overlapping leather sections (tongues laced against each other). This system allows for excellent adjustment of the shoe to the shape of your foot and instep. Should the shaft or instep feel too tight or too loose, simply loosen the knots on the leather straps leading to the buttons (you can use a nail or a fork to help) and adjust their length individually. If the shaft is too tight, lengthen them; if it is too loose, shorten them.

Proper Care for Leather Boots

For your boots to serve you in perfect condition for many years, leather care is essential. Straight from production, the leather is treated with a high-quality beeswax balm. Regularly rub leather oil or wax balm into the boots to prevent drying and cracking. After application, the leather will soften, gain better resistance to morning dew, and naturally darken slightly. Always let wet footwear dry very slowly at room temperature. Never dry the boots near the radiant heat of a fire, on a radiator, or in direct sunlight. Any scuffs from demanding battles can be easily masked with tinted shoe polish.

Important Information on Colours and Sizes

The basic and most natural colours for this footwear are black, dark brown, and light brown (natural). If you select a different, unconventional shade in the configurator, it is achieved by applying a special covering lacquer paint. Please be aware that this surface layer may crack or flake slightly over time in stressed bending areas. For occasional wear, this is not an issue, but for extreme and frequent stress, we strongly advise choosing the naturally dyed leathers.

Thanks to the rubber sole, you will gain much better stability on modern surfaces and in nature than with historical leather soles, making the boots excellent for more active movement. If you wear orthotic insoles and opt for our custom-made footwear production, it is absolutely essential that you physically post these insoles to us. We will seat them precisely into your new boots so they fit you like a glove.

We highly recommend purchasing traditional woollen leg wraps (winingas) from our range to accompany these Viking boots, as they will support your calves and keep your feet perfectly warm.
