"The Last Samurai" Katana with Engraved Blade
Iconic Details and Craftsmanship
What catches the eye at first glance is the blade made of carbon steel. It features laser-engraved Japanese characters on its surface, representing the inscription from the movie: "Since ancient times to the present, God is with those who serve with a pure heart". The blade is hardened and features a distinct hamon line.
The scabbard (saya) is made of black lacquered wood and decorated with three deeply carved characters, highlighted in a gold/copper tone. The handle (tsuka) is traditionally wrapped with black cotton ribbon, beneath which lies imitation ray skin and two decorative menuki. The guard (tsuba) is metal and bears the motif of a Japanese dragon.
