Historical Context and Inspiration
This sword was crafted in honour of the famous Norse-Gaelic king named Sigtrygg Silkiskegg (Sigtrygg Silkbeard), who ruled Dublin at the turn of the 10th and 11th centuries. It was an era of great upheavals, epic battles, and the gradual Christianisation of Scandinavia and the British Isles. The shape of the steel pommel and crossguard precisely matches the Wheeler Type VI typology, characterised by a distinct, five-lobed pommel. This style was highly popular among elite warriors and Norse chieftains at the end of the Viking Age, serving as a clear demonstration of high status and wealth.
Construction and Practical Use
The high-carbon steel blade passes all the way through the handle, which is wrapped in leather for a firm and comfortable grip. Unlike high-end collectible replicas, the tang is not traditionally peened over the pommel but is mechanically secured within the hilt construction. According to the standard fencing weapon classification, this sword is rated as a Class D weapon. For safety reasons, we primarily recommend this sword as a decorative item, an excellent costume accessory for reenactment, living history, or theatrical props. It is not structurally designed for full-contact historical European martial arts (HEMA), heavy stage combat, or cutting tests, and no warranty is provided for combat damage.

Care and Safety Instructions
Since the blade is made of genuine high-carbon steel, it requires regular maintenance to keep it looking pristine. Carbon steel naturally reacts to moisture and finger sweat, which can cause rust. After every use, carefully wipe the blade with a dry cloth and apply a thin layer of protective weapon oil (such as Ballistol or WD-40). Never store the sword in a damp environment.
For safety reasons, please remember that although the sword features a rounded tip and a 3 mm thick blunt edge, it is not intended for active combat against another person. Excessive force can damage the structure of the weapon or cause injury. Use this sword strictly as a costume prop or for light, non-contact choreography practice.
