A True Gassenhauer for the 21st Century
The heart of this beast is the enormous, over-one-metre-long blade made from **1060 carbon steel**. It is delivered sharp and is robustly constructed. The sword features an imposing guard with parrying rings to shield your hands from enemy weapons. The distinctive **parrying hooks** (*Parierhaken*) on the blade not only offer extra protection but also allow you to "half-sword" (gripping the blade at the unsharpened ricasso) for precise thrusts and strikes in close-quarters combat.
The extra-long hilt is made of wood, wrapped in genuine leather, and provides a firm, secure grip for both hands. It is finished with a heavy steel pommel, which acts as a perfect counterweight to the long blade and can be used as an effective striking weapon in its own right.

Did you know that the wielders of these massive swords were elite soldiers, often the **Doppelsöldner** (double-pay soldiers) of the Landsknecht regiments? They received double wages for the extremely dangerous task of standing on the front line and breaking the enemy pike formations. The **Gassenhauer** ("lane maker") was their tool for swatting aside or chopping the long polearms of the enemy, creating a gap (a "lane") for their comrades to exploit.

URGENT WARNING: This sword has a **sharp blade** and is fully functional. It is not intended for contact sparring, duelling (person-to-person), HEMA, stage combat, or any other form of "combat". It is a collector's item and a tool intended exclusively for test cutting (Tameshigiri) on appropriate materials (e.g., special mats). Any other use is at your own risk and can lead to severe injury!
- Maintenance: The 1060 carbon steel blade requires regular care. Always keep it clean and lightly oiled (e.g., with mineral oil or **Renaissance Wax**) to prevent corrosion.
- Storage: Store the sword in a dry place. If you purchase a scabbard, do not store the sword in it for long periods, as leather and wood can retain moisture and cause rust.
- What Not to Do: Do not handle the sword recklessly. Do not strike hard objects (stones, metal, hardwood), as this could damage the edge.
