Spearhead Folium | Leaf Shape | Polished Steel
A Universal Weapon Throughout History
Spears and lances have accompanied humanity since the dawn of time. The leaf shape (foliate) is one of the oldest and most efficient designs known to history. It was used by Greek hoplites, Roman legionaries, Celtic warriors, and Germanic tribes alike. This specific shape was favoured for its aerodynamics when thrown and its ability to penetrate materials easily. In the hands of an experienced warrior, a spear with such a tip was a deadly tool capable of finding gaps even in chainmail armour. Since this model lacks specific decoration, it is historically neutral, and you can use it for a wide time period – from antiquity to the High Middle Ages.
Craftsmanship and Assembly
The head is made of quality carbon steel. The surface is polished, giving it a noble appearance that will acquire the right patina over time and use. The construction ends in a conical socket.
When assembling, keep in mind that the inner diameter of the socket is approx. 14.4 mm (0.57 inches). This means you will need a narrower shaft or will have to significantly taper the end of a standard shaft (e.g., ash wood) to ensure a tight fit. To secure the head onto the shaft, we recommend drilling a small hole in the socket and securing it with a rivet or nail, or using high-quality two-part epoxy glue for fixation.

Care Instructions
Since the spearhead is made of carbon steel, it is prone to rust if exposed to moisture. To keep it looking like new for a long time, follow these rules:
- Wipe the metal dry after every use (or after touching it with bare hands).
- Regularly preserve the surface with a layer of oil (e.g., WD-40, mineral oil, or gun oil).
- Store the weapon in a dry environment.
- If surface rust appears, it can be easily removed with a fine abrasive fleece or steel wool and then oiled again.
Safety Warning
This product is a replica of a historical weapon. Although the edge of the leaf is not sharpened like a knife, the point is very sharp and can cause serious injury if handled carelessly. The product is not primarily intended for full-contact fencing or buhurt, but rather for scenic use, form practice (drills), costume purposes, or as a throwing spear into targets (soft wood, straw).
Classification: Class C according to the classification of reenactment weapons. Product without warranty against breakage during combat use! More information about the classification can be found here.
