Leather Care and Safety Warnings

Leather is a durable yet natural material that reacts to its environment. To maintain the scabbard's stiffness and ensure it continues to protect your steel blade from moisture, we recommend regularly treating the exterior with a premium leather balm containing beeswax. If you get caught in heavy rain during a historical re-enactment event, always allow the scabbard to dry slowly at standard room temperature. You must strictly avoid drying it near an open fire, on radiators, or in direct, intense sunlight. Excessive heat extracts the essential oils from the leather, causing it to become brittle and permanently shrink.

Always exercise caution when sheathing your weapon. Rapiers and smallswords feature a very narrow, sharp tip. Inserting the blade violently or carelessly can pierce through the leather chape at the bottom, risking severe injury to yourself or others. Please also keep in mind that slight variations in colour tone and surface texture are natural characteristics of genuine leather, making every single piece a unique original.
