Dark Forged Agincourt Hand-and-a-Half Sword from High Carbon Steel, Battlecry Series
Historical Context and Weapon Typology
The sword is named after the famous and bloody Battle of Agincourt (1415), where English knights and archers fought with weapons of this type during the Hundred Years' War. In terms of historical weapon typology, the blade corresponds to Oakeshott Type XVa. Hand-and-a-half swords of this type (often called bastard swords) were characterised by a strong tapering of the blade to a sharp thrusting point, predestining them to pierce mail armour and find the weak spots in plate armour. The long blade combined with an extended grip allowed for extremely fast attacks and the effective use of half-swording techniques, which were an essential part of medieval combat manuals.
Construction, Materials, and Craftsmanship
The weapon is precisely forged from 1065 high carbon steel. The blade is then tempered in computer-controlled ovens to an optimal hardness of 50-52 HRC, giving it toughness and the ability to hold an edge for a long time. The surface of the blade and fittings has undergone a special blackening process (bluing and stone-wash), giving the sword an attractive and battle-worn appearance that protects the surface from atmospheric rust. The construction of the sword is exceptionally strong thanks to the extra-wide full tang. A secure grip is ensured by the wood-lined handle covered in genuine black leather with raised risers. The entire composition is balanced by a solid wheel pommel with a recessed centre and an elegantly inward-curved crossguard. The sword comes with a fitting leather scabbard featuring a metal chape and an integrated frog for easy carrying on a belt.

Safety Warnings and Proper Maintenance
We strongly warn you that this weapon has a very sharp blade and is under no circumstances intended for contact historical fencing (HEMA sparring), stage combat, or man-to-man battles. Blade-on-blade strikes would cause damage (nicks, chips) and pose a huge risk of fatal injury. The sword is fully functional and is designed exclusively for cutting practice on practice targets (such as soaked tatami mats, water-filled PET bottles, or pumpkins). Always execute your cuts in a sufficiently secured and clear area.
Although the surface is protected by oxidation (bluing), it is high carbon steel that needs to be cared for. After every training session, especially after cutting moist materials, carefully dry the blade and treat it with a high-quality gun oil or conservation wax to prevent deep rust formation.
