All-Steel Six-Flanged Mace, Hussite Weapon

A Weapon That Made History in the Hussite Wars

Maces were among the favorite weapons of both infantry and cavalry, mainly due to their ability to crush enemy armor without necessarily having to pierce it. Solid Construction and a Reliable Grip

The weapon features an all-steel construction with no additional surface finish, giving it a raw, historically accurate character. The striking head is fitted with six massive flanges (blades) with a thickness of approximately 5 mm, ensuring a concentrated and crushing impact. For a more secure handling, the grip is covered with leather featuring distinct ring-like ribbing. The hand is additionally protected by a steel guard ring (rondel) at the top and a flat disc pommel at the bottom. The bottom pommel practically ends with a lanyard ring, through which a leather wrist strap can be threaded so the weapon doesn't slip from your hand in the heat of battle.

Safety and Proper Care

Even though the mace is made of solid metal, for safety reasons, we offer it as a decorative and collector's item. It is not intended for full-contact combat (HEMA, buhurt), as hard steel-on-steel impacts can result in weapon damage or injury. To ensure the steel retains its appearance and does not rust, regular care is essential. We recommend wiping the metal parts after each handling and preserving them with a light film of gun oil. The leather grip should occasionally be treated with a leather balm.

For a perfect portrayal of a Hussite warrior, we recommend combining the mace with a period padded gambeson, a chainmail shirt, and a kettle hat. If you plan to use it as a decoration, get a stylish wall mount that will make it the centerpiece of your armory.
