Brass Belt Buckle with Backplate, Celtic Knot, Viking Style
Craftsmanship and Design
The buckle is made from a single piece of high-quality solid brass with a polished finish, giving it a golden lustre. The design combines elements typical of Viking and Celtic art (the so-called Hiberno-Norse style). The central Celtic knot motif (Triquetra) symbolises trinity in many forms – for example, earth, sea, and sky, or past, present, and future. This symbol was popular across cultures and gives the buckle a deeper meaning. The set also includes a backplate, which serves to securely and reliably attach the buckle to the belt.
How to Attach the Buckle
Attaching this buckle is simple and historically authentic. You will need rivets and a hammer (not included).
- Prepare the end of your leather belt. Trim it to match the shape of the buckle's plate.
- Place the buckle on the belt and mark the positions of the rivet holes. Repeat this process with the backplate on the other side of the leather.
- Use a punch or an awl to create holes in the leather at the marked spots.
- Sandwich the leather between the buckle's plate and the backplate.
- Insert the rivets through the holes and, on a hard surface, carefully peen them with a hammer. This will create a very strong and durable attachment.

How to Care for Brass
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc that naturally tarnishes over time, developing a darker patina. This patina is often desirable as it gives the item a historical appearance. If you prefer a shiny golden surface, you can easily polish the buckle at any time. Use a commercially available brass cleaner and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pastes that could scratch the surface.
