Solid Brass D-Shaped Buckle, 32 mm
A Universal Helper Through the Centuries
The simple D-shaped buckle is one of the most common and widespread types of clasp in history. Its functional and straightforward design has proven itself in many cultures and eras. We encounter similar buckles on Roman belts (cingulum), among the Vikings, in the early and high Middle Ages, and their popularity has lasted into modern times. This versatility makes it a safe and always appropriate choice for your costume, no matter what period you are portraying.
How to Attach the Buckle?
Attaching the buckle to a leather strap is easy. The end of the strap is folded over the straight bar of the buckle frame. This creates a loop, into which a hole must be made for the buckle's tongue (pin). Finally, the folded end of the strap is attached to its main part, most commonly with one or two rivets, or by being securely stitched. For a perfect look, we recommend using our brass rivets.

Caring for Brass
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc that naturally darkens over time and develops a patina. If you prefer a shiny appearance, you can polish the buckle at any time using a standard metal cleaner.
