Design and Functionality for LARP and Costumes
These shoulder plates are designed with practicality and style in mind. They consist of several articulated plates (lames) that allow for excellent flexibility and freedom of movement. The top, largest plate covers the shoulder joint, while the subsequent smaller plates protect the upper arm. The blackened finish not only looks menacing and elegant but also provides basic protection against corrosion.
How to Wear and Attach
Attaching these pauldrons is simple. At the top, there is a leather strap with a buckle, used to attach them to a gorget (neck protection) or to the shoulder straps of a cuirass or gambeson. Another leather strap at the bottom fastens around your upper arm (over a gambeson or other padding) ensuring the pauldron stays firmly in place and does not twist.

Important Notice (Protection Class)
These plate pauldrons are made from 1mm thick steel. They are primarily intended for LARP, theatre, cosplay, or as part of a costume. They provide basic protection during light, simulated combat, but we strongly advise against their use in full-contact combat, such as HEMA, buhurt (Battle of the Nations), or any other form of heavy fighting. The material thickness is not sufficient for this purpose, and it could lead to damage to the armour and serious injury.
Care for Your Steel Armour
As this product is made from mild steel, it is susceptible to rust. To maintain its longevity and appearance, we recommend:
- Thoroughly drying the armour with a soft cloth after each use.
- Storing it in a dry environment.
- Regularly treating the surface with oil (e.g., WD-40, mineral oil) to prevent rust. The blackened finish helps but is not 100% rust-proof.
- Occasionally treating the leather straps with a leather care product to prevent them from hardening and cracking.
- Avoiding long-term storage in damp places (like a basement) or in plastic bags where moisture can condensate.
