While the first instalment of the famous "300" comic and movie focused on the heroic Spartan defence at Thermopylae, the action of "300: Rise of an Empire" shifts to the stormy seas of the naval Battle of Artemisium. Here, the Athenian general Themistocles faced the overwhelming might of the Persian fleet. Real Greek helmets from this period (such as the Corinthian or Chalcidian types) looked vastly different. However, this movie replica brilliantly captures the dark, raw fantasy atmosphere of Miller's graphic novel. The intimidating design of the helmet evokes a predatory fish or a sea monster, which perfectly suits the naval theme of the battle.
Usage and Proper Fitting
The helmet comes factory-fitted with a soft, adjustable cloth lining that ensures basic comfort right out of the box. The interior is also partially lined with leather for a better grip on the head. This product is strictly intended for decorative purposes, as a high-end cosplay prop, for light stage combat, or for fantasy LARP battles using foam weapons.
Material Care and Maintenance
Even though the helmet boasts a beautiful antique bronze finish, its core is made of steel. Protect it from prolonged exposure to moisture. After every use, we recommend letting the interior dry out thoroughly from sweat. Gently wipe the exterior surface with a dry cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. Treat the leather straps occasionally with a quality leather balm to prevent the material from cracking and to keep it comfortably supple.
