Heavily padded coif Nájera for buhurt and HMB
4xComplete your tournament kit with a substantial padded coif that covers your head and extends over your neck and shoulders with a broad collar. The Nájera coif is intended for buhurt and HMB, featuring thick cotton filling, longitudinal quilting and an open face. Its light natural colour pairs easily with other textile armour components. Ties help you adjust the fit around your neck and beneath your chin. Allow for the considerable padding when choosing your helmet: it needs sufficient internal space for the complete setup. We therefore recommend trying the coif with the helmet you intend to use in training or tournaments. Further product information ...

Heavily padded coif Nájera for buhurt and HMB
Thick padding and a broad collar
Longitudinal quilted channels divide the head section. The broad collar lies over the upper chest, back and shoulders. A separate padded section beneath the chin has ties, with further lacing around the neck. The fabric contains cotton and linen, while the filling is natural cotton. Exact fibre percentages are not specified.
The introductory specifications round the thickness to approximately 3 cm (1.18 in). The detailed measurements state approximately 2.7 cm (1.06 in). Treat these as approximate figures and check the actual space required by trying the complete setup on.
Medieval inspiration and the name Nájera
The coif is offered for equipment inspired by the 13th–15th centuries. Textile padding beneath a helmet separated the head from metal components and improved the fit. This particularly thick version is adapted for modern tournament use; it is not a documented reproduction of a specific medieval find.
Nájera recalls the battle fought in 1367 during the struggle for the Castilian crown. The name refers to the era of knightly equipment that inspires the design, rather than its place of manufacture.

Fitting and safety
Put the coif on, arrange the padding evenly and fasten the ties without restricting your neck. Then try your helmet and check visibility, breathing, movement and the helmet’s own fastening. The collar must not form pressure points beneath other armour components. The coif does not replace a helmet or other protective equipment. Your complete setup must meet the requirements of the particular tournament.
Washing and suggested accessories
Turn the coif inside out before washing. Hand-wash separately in cold water, no warmer than 30 °C (86 °F), using a small amount of mild detergent. Air-dry and do not tumble-dry. Let the filling dry completely before storage.
For equipment inspired by the 14th century, we recommend a suitable bascinet, mail aventail and gambeson. For buhurt, select helmets and protective components explicitly intended for that discipline. Other equipment shown in the photographs is not included with the coif.
