Baroque Dagger "Musketeer" with Ivory-Look Hilt
Elegance in Every Detail
This dagger boasts a very sophisticated design. The crossguard is S-shaped and ends in decorative scrolls, a typical element of Baroque edged weapons. A relief medallion is located in the centre of the guard. The grip is made of polymer in an ivory colour and is decorated with a black drawing (in scrimshaw style) depicting a crest with halberds and a crown. The composition is topped with a pommel in the shape of a knight's helmet with a visor, cast from metal with a dark patina. The stainless steel blade is polished with a central point. Included is a black scabbard with fittings that match the guard and pommel.
Historical Context
In the Baroque period, heavy knightly daggers gave way to lighter and more ornate variants. Nobles and officers wore daggers more as a status symbol or as a "main-gauche" (left hand) to accompany a rapier or smallsword. This particular model combines military symbolism (helmet, weapons on the crest) with courtly elegance (ivory look, ornaments), corresponding to the taste of high society in the early modern period.
Care and Maintenance
Thanks to the 420 stainless steel blade, maintenance of the dagger is very easy. Simply wipe it occasionally with a soft dry cloth to maintain its shine. Clean the imitation ivory handle only with a damp cloth; avoid using chemical solvents that could damage the print. The patinated metal parts do not require polishing.
Safety Warning
This is exclusively a decorative item. Although the blade is made of metal, its attachment in the handle is not designed for stress or impact. The dagger is not intended for fencing, chopping, or throwing. The edge is not sharpened, but the tip may be sharp, so please exercise caution. It is not suitable as a toy for small children.
For comfortable wear, I recommend purchasing a suitable leather belt frog to keep the dagger in the correct position.
