Fudo Japanese Water Stone Grit 1000 with Rubber Base
Usage and Preparation
As the name suggests, this stone works exclusively with water. Using oil would irreversibly damage it. Before sharpening, the stone must be "activated":
- Soaking: Submerge the whetstone in water for 10 to 15 minutes before use. The stone absorbs water into its pores, ensuring the correct abrasive effect and cooling of the blade.
- Sharpening: Splash water on the stone regularly while working. A slurry (mud) will form on the surface; do not wash it off—this is what sharpens most effectively.
- Sharpening a Knife Correctly
- Compatibility: Although inspired by Japanese tradition, it is suitable for all types of kitchen, hunting, and pocket knives.
