Medieval Leather Merchant Belt Pouch with Geometric Embossing Dark Blue
History and Period Usage
Belt pouches and almoners played an absolutely irreplaceable role in the High and Late Middle Ages, as ordinary clothing of the time completely lacked pockets. Wider merchant pouches, such as this specific model, were worn by traders, craftsmen, and wealthier burghers suspended from their belts. Different embossed patterns on the flap, like the geometric lines seen here, often distinguished the wearers, indicated their guild affiliation, or simply reflected their personal taste and wealth.
Practical Application
The pouch is threaded directly onto your belt through a massive cutout in the leather back panel. The maximum width of the belt you can thread through is a generous 4.5 cm / 1.77 inches. Your valuable contents are safely protected by a sturdy flap and a robust leather strap that fastens with a historicising metal buckle featuring a fine patina.

Proper Care for Your Belt Pouch
Regularly care for the smooth back panel and flap using a high-quality leather balsam containing beeswax. This will prevent unpleasant cracking, keep the leather supple, and significantly increase its water resistance. However, never treat the front brushed part (suede) with wax, as you would destroy its characteristic matte and rough appearance. Instead, use a special rubber suede brush or a suitable waterproofing spray for brushed leather. Never dry the pouch near an open fire or placed on a radiator, as the leather could irreversibly scorch, harden, and crack.
Important Material Information
This product is handmade from genuine leather, which is a purely natural material. Minor variations in colour and surface texture are therefore its completely natural characteristic. These slight visual imperfections do not diminish the utilitarian value of the product in any way. Every piece produced is thus, to a certain extent, a unique original.
We highly recommend complementing this spacious merchant pouch with a sturdy leather belt featuring a forged buckle and a replica of a medieval dagger with a scabbard, making your historical costume absolutely perfect.
